These reports are included in the package bundle at no extra cost to the state. Some of the Texas state reports that are included in the program include Public Education Information Management Systems (PEIMS) data, Pupil Enrollment Tracking, TAKS Assessments, TELPAS Pre-coding, Texas Honor Roll, Staff Salary Data, and the Federal CDC Report. Skyward is a system in which the customers’ request updates and changes to the system. A voting system is in place to vote on the request for enhancements to Skyward. A web-based management system is used to communicate and process the reports of every request submitted. This feature allows districts to customize features and if a district pays for the new feature, the other districts receive the customized feature for free. Single Database
One of the main features of Skyward is that there is only one login to view all information. All stakeholders such as parents, students, administrators, and teachers have one login to access the files they are granted permission. Also, there is simplified state reporting, where all district’s state reporting comes from an inclusive database, that eliminated redundant data entry. Another feature is that the data is web-based so you can access the data from anywhere you have an Internet connection even with a smartphone. This system also has reduced costs associated with it because the district does not have to maintain separate databases for student and employee data. Cloud Option
The cloud allows information to be stored off-site in case of a network
failure; the data was backed up the night before. This is a great way to store information and have the data backed up for future use without administrative overhead. Also with the cloud as long as you have an Internet connection, you will have access to the data.
Skyward has a consistent and customizable display so that users can quickly become experts with the software. All of the information displayed is straightforward and easy to navigate. Also, you can customize how information is displayed by rearranging columns and running multiple windows with a single login. Another feature is that you can export graphs and other data to Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. This makes evaluating data easier for the users. Updates
All the updates are included with the district’s Annual License Fee. By having the updates included as long as the license fee is paid, the district will receive full updates from Skyward. Implementation
Skyward has experienced programmers to transfer data properly. Also, the staff will work within the district’s timeline and terms to make the transition as smooth as possible. Skyward also conducts training updates to ensure the transition and implementation are on time and working properly for the district. Money Saving
The system allows districts to have paperless report cards, electronic assignments and grading, and online student enrollment. In addition, there is accelerated communication through Family Access which allows teachers to email parents regarding grades and behavior. Also, districts benefit from the system because it is a long-term investment where new products, upgrades and training come at little or no cost.
